Filomena Cromwell (don't you just love that name) has come home for
her sister's wedding. Her family is fearful she'll take away from the joyous occasion by exacting some long overdue revenge. You see, Filomena had left nine years earlier under rather embarrassing conditions. Now she is back. Not the plump, insecure girl who left, but a successful, independent woman who has come into her own.
Enter Trent Ravinder. He is all to willing to step in and take control of
Filomena for her family. At least he tries, in his arrogant manner.
(Remember this book was published in the 80's.) The sparks between Filomena and Trent fly in the opening and don't stop until the end. My all time favorite scene involves Filomena coming downstairs at the family home dressed in a very sexy dress. When Trent orders her to change, her family members fall all over themselves getting out of the line of fire.
Read by today's standards, some might find Trent a bit too domineering. But
I've always been a sucker for a man who can handle an independent woman,
picking his battles carefully, and enjoying a relationship with a woman who
knows her own mind.
Note: This book is also out on Audio from Silhouette, 1995. If you can't get a copy of the book, listening to Marcia Strassman read an abridgment is almost as good as the real thing.

Marcia Strassman, reader
Marcia Strassman has done a number of the JAK audios and I believe she is my
personal favorite. Her men are believable and when she has a three or four
way conversation, she is truly amazing.
The Main Attraction features Filomena Cromwell back in her small town for
the wedding of her sister. She'd left at the age of 19, after being
humiliated by her former fiancee and his present wife. The marriage has not
been a happy one and the man is eying the new Filomena with great interest.
Trent Ravinder is a high profile executive who is fighting burn-out and
taking 6 weeks off to fish and think at Filomena's parents' lodge.
Everyone is very leery of what the new Filomena might do. Her flaming long
red hair and sexy dresses belong to a dynamo who has made a success in the
world of fashion.
Trent decides that Filomena is for him and they become engaged. But, at her
sister's wedding when her Aunt and Uncle give them land on the coast for a
present; he decides that Filomena must give it away to prove she hadn't been
using him. To be honest, even on tape this part of the book/audio is a wall
banger for me. When these alpha hero's pride is involved they become real
idiots. I think of Jake Stone in Full Bloom, as the same type of guy. They
misjudge the heroine and then are stuck in that position. Filomena is not a
redhead for nothing. She tells Trent she will have an affair with him--she
won't marry someone who doesn't trust her.
This is a fun listen, the wall banger part is shorter on tape and Marcia
does such a great job with Trent, that you really do like him and know that
he will come to his senses. This is not prime Krentz, but it ain't bad.
