Just her luck! The first man she's been attracted to in a long time and
he's the one who's broken into her hotel room and is threatening to hurt her
if she doesn't cough up (figuratively speaking) the Golden Goddess! The
first man in a long time that she's been interested in and he's crazy! What
a dirty dog shame!
Hannah Prescott is nearing the end of her whirlwind South Pacific vacation
and doesn't need this. Much to Hannah's surprise, Jarrett Blade discovers
the Golden Goddess, an ancient fertility figure, in Hannah's suitcase. He
is certain that she is in cahoots with two other tourists, the Clydemore
couple. He's willing, however, to let her prove otherwise. To do that, she must
pretend that she and Jarrett are a couple and see if the Clydemores come
after the GG. Rather than get turned over to the authorities, she goes
along with Jarrett.
As a sideline (and actually a crucial part of the story as we all know),
Jarrett and Hannah are very attracted to one another. In fact, Hannah is very much
afraid that she is falling in love with Jarrett.
Afraid? Yes, afraid. Jarrett doesn't believe in love. He feels that men
need to control the magic in women and not let them be the manipulators they
naturally are. Yet he wants Hannah and means to have and take care of her.
He may not be able to give her love (so he thinks), but since he feels that
Hannah allows others to take advantage of her, he knows he can protect her
from that. Hannah, just knowing she's going to be hurt, is angry with
Jarrett, letting him know that she's gotten along fine without such
protection. She lets him know that he would have been better off living a
thousand years ago, when men were alphas and women were doting slaves.
On with the story…
Soon, Hannah leaves Jarrett to deal with the Clydemores and leaves the
island without his knowledge. Once back home, she starts to get back into
the swing of her life.
But, wait! Who but Jarrett shows up at her home, insisting that she come
live with him, so he can protect her from those people who take advantage of
her! (Okay, so he doesn't listen well…alphas don't - get over it). Hannah
is struggling with her desire to be with the man she loves, yet needing to
know that he loves her, too! How will Hannah handle this situation?
Read this story and find out the fate of the Golden Goddess, as well as how
Hannah and Jarrett resolve the barriers to their mutual love. I think
you'll enjoy it!
